Apprenticeships

Sitaram offers apprenticeship routes for

True to the spirit of ancient yoga teachings, our favoured method of training teachers in our specialist field is through apprenticeships. This involves a period of application / induction that gives the apprentice time for reflection and analysis of their motives and aims in embarking on the apprenticeship. During this time apprentices sit in on classes, observing and participating.

Depending upon prior experience and training, this sitting in period is of variable length. It culminates with a graduated introduction to teaching methods, teaching under close supervision and with feedback.

During the transition from observer and helper to teacher, the apprenticeships have full tutorial support from their mentor. The also have access to Sitaram's programme of workshops and study days. Because we have a local team of committed teachers already working with us at Sitaram, apprenticeships also benefit from the close support of fellow apprentices and from teachers of varying levels of experience.

Once fully trained, apprentices often 'cut their teeth' by providing paid cover classes for other Sitaram teachers. Because of continued expansion in our field, Sitaram is also in a position to provide new and established classes for apprentices to teach once they become fully confident. The team structure and range of classes mean that flexible working and support for
cover and childcare are the working reality for Sitaram teachers.

Through arranement with the Birthlight Trust, Sitaram can also offer transfers into the Birthlight Diploma courses in Perinatal and Baby Yoga.

Most of our apprentices so far have been local to Sitaram, although we have also successfully completed a very happy apprenticeship training for a teacher much further distant from us - she lived in Cardiff!

If you are interested in our apprenticeship scheme. Please do contact us to talk about it further.
